2018 EXPY Awards

Not only was Contempo the presenting sponsor for the Northeast Ohio Council on Higher Education’s 7th annual EXPY awards presentation, honoring the best of the best interns and company internships, but we also had the privilege of designing the marketing materials that went along with the event. Contempo started with the logo and applied a consistent look and feel throughout the event’s marketing materials and day-of materials (program, name tags, signage, and slide presentation).

Training Complex Renovation

As preferred design partner of the Cleveland Indians, we’ve worked with the team to update their Spring Training Facility in Goodyear, Arizona. We’ve developed graphics for dugout roofs, dimensional signage and some larger projects like graphic timeline depicting the franchise’s history and custom wall prints that highlight the determination and sacrifice players exhibit during their training.

Cleveland Indians 2018 Yearbook

View a digital flip book of the Yearbook below…

The Cleveland Indians, a Contempo client for 15 years, charged our creative team with their annual yearbook layout. Contempo has designed the custom piece for the past 12 years. The yearbook includes player pages, feature stories about the 2018 team, and sponsored advertisements. The look of this year’s piece was a collaborative effort between Contempo’s design team and the Indians internal scoreboard graphics crew. The yearbook was designed to match the cohesive and consistent look with all of the other printed, online and scoreboard graphics for the season. The look consists of the Indians’ Pantone colors, 289 and 186, along with bold, animated, modern ribbon-type graphics to convey a strong feeling of movement and energy. This year’s books will be on sale at Goodyear Ballpark in Arizona during Spring Training and will be available for purchase at the Indians Team Shop at Progressive Field.

Packaging Design

MCPc Disruptive Technology Event Custom Invitation

Our MCPc (a global provider of technology services) asked our team to create a custom box that evolved into an invitation package that included custom-made cookie, an invitation to DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGY events across the state that were sponsored by MCPc,  and an iPhone look recreated as a small insert card used as an incentive to sign up for great prize giveaways at each event. Sixty three custom packages were created for Toledo, Columbus, Cincinnati and Cleveland. Contempo also produces MCPc’s custom magazine, Insider.

Corporate Identity

Onco Solutions

Onco Solutions, LLC, developer of 3D tumor models that aid cancer drug testing, was the 2017 Female Entrepreneur Summit pitch competition winner. As the winner, they have received a custom branding package from Contempo. Phase one of the package features a redesign of the Onco Solutions logo, seen here. The purpose of the design is to convey a clean, medicinal feel, done so through the use of the typeface and spacing throughout the letters. The hashed, concentric, target-like circle represents Onco Solution’s efforts to pinpoint effective drugs to combat cancerous cells.

Building Signage

Petersen & Petersen Law Building Signs

Our longstanding client, Petersen & Petersen Attorneys at Law, are moving into a brand new 7,000 square-foot building and they tapped our Contempo team to design interior and exterior signage. The firm, along with two other businesses, breathed new life onto the property that is part of the Fowler’s Mill Historic District. The exterior signage incorporates Petersen & Petersen’s signature red color, conveying a rustic feel that complements the design of the building and surroundings, but inside sleek anodized champagne aluminum greets visitors with a polished professional look befitting of the firm’s important legal work. Contempo has worked with Petersen & Petersen on branding materials, a website and now, some environmental graphic design elements.

Branding Guidelines

Cleveland Indians Style Guide

Contempo helped the Cleveland Indians protect their brand integrity by developing a comprehensive style guide. The guide ensures that the Indians copyrighted visual elements are produced and applied consistently, regardless of where they appear. The guide includes exact specifications for logos, typography, colors, uniforms and photography. It covers placement and font, approved PMS color variations and even the preferred types of player and fan images. In addition to a print booklet, the Contempo team also produced the Indians Style Guide in digital form, on a password protected website.

Office Renovation

Fleet Response Environmental Graphics

Fleet Response has provided an array of services to the trucking industry since 1986. Contempo Communications was enlisted to design an extensive office space renovation that conveyed their hometown pride and visually connected visitors to their history and deep experience in the marketplace. Company CEO Scott Mawaka wanted the space to include a Cleveland theme, so art elements like skyline photographs, autographed guitars and other memorabilia were incorporated into the bold red and black décor. The design also paid tribute to the company with a vibrant, illustrated timeline of the company’s 40+ year history and included a “loyalty wall” to recognize their staff.
